Skulpturengarten Kaub
Blücherstraße 69, 56348 Kaub
Viktoria-Stollen Sculpture Garden
The garden is situated around the restored buildings of a disused slate quarry in a side valley of the Middle Rhine between Kaub and Weisel. It is split into two sections: a brick-paved courtyard with a pavilion, pergolas and a pot garden. This area is dominated by numerous handcrafted planters full of succulents, small shrubs and food plants. On the steep hillside behind the house is the forest garden with its old trees. Access is along footpaths and terraced areas of slate paving. It is a natural, shade garden planted with species - predominantly wild perennials - which are typical for the location. The natural conditions of the site with its rock formations, wet and dry zones give the garden its structure. The shaded pond, a honeysuckle pavilion, an old mine entrance, the fern forest, a mossy slope, the stone terrace and the cosy wooden deck behind the residential building form the focal points for numerous small themed gardens. Sculptures and vessels from the owners’ studio add creative accents to the wild romantic courtyard and garden areas and invite visitors to embark on a journey of discovery in a world where art meets nature.
