Skulpturengarten und Keramikatelier in der alten Schiefergrube
Blücherstraße 69, 56349 Kaub
The garden is located around the restored buildings of a disused slate mine in a side valley of the Middle Rhine between Kaub and Weisel.
It is divided into two parts: a brick-paved courtyard area with a pavilion, pergolas, and a container garden. It is designed with many handcrafted plant containers for succulents, small shrubs, and vegetables.
Behind the house, the woodland garden extends along the slope, featuring old trees. It is accessible via paths and terraces made of slate slabs. It is a natural shadow garden with site-appropriate planting, where wild perennials play the main role. The natural features of the terrain, with its rock formations, wet and dry zones, structure the garden. The shade pond, a honeysuckle pavilion, an old mine entrance, the fern grove, a moss slope, the stone terrace, and the cozy wooden deck behind the residential building are centers of many small themed gardens.
Sculptures and containers from the owners' studio create design accents in the wild-romantic courtyard and garden area, inviting a journey of discovery into a world where art and nature meet.
